Hollenbach’s Tide Chasers Bait and Tackle store is a locally owned family business, located in Nags Head, North Carolina. We are situated between the beach road and the bypass road, directly across from Jockey’s Ridge State Park at the 12.5 milepost.
We specialize in a one-on-one shopping experience, catering to locals and visitors alike who want quality bait and tackle, advice based on our own years of fishing the Outer Banks shores, and an ever-changing answer to “Where are the fish biting?”. Whether you need to know what type of bait to use, how to tie up a rig, or which rod is best suited for your day of fishing, those are the questions we’re here to answer.
The Hollenbach Family has been in the bait and tackle fishing industry since 1987, when they started a small mom-and-pop store operating out of the family home in Central Pennsylvania. After almost 20 years of visiting the Outer Banks as a family, we were ready to make the move and call OBX our home.
Tide Chasers was named after the fishermen and fisherwoman living along and visiting the shores of the Outer Banks, where the tides rule. Around here, the tides determine where boats can roam, the movement of the fish, and if you’re able to reach your favorite fishing spot. Those who have fished here before know the importance of checking and keeping an eye on the tide, and those who haven’t will quickly learn. From fishermen to boaters to seashell gatherers, chasing tides is a way of life.
At Tide Chasers, we pride ourselves on offering products that we have used and tested ourselves. Alongside our fresh and frozen baits, we have a large stock of artificial baits, saltwater and freshwater tackle, rods, reels, and sportsman tools and apparel. We also offer a unique rod and reel renting program and basic rod and reel repair. If there’s anything we don’t have in stock, tell us! We are always happy to look into new and improved products.
